The Merry Widow 1968
The Merry Widow took to the stage at the Technical School Auditorium in May 1968. Returning to leading roles this year were Jack Wall as the playboy diplomat and Maretta O'Hehir as the Merry Widow.
The public were delighted to once again see Maretta in a leading role, due to her growing popularity both in Ireland and abroad. She had spent some of the previous year as part of the Boston Opera and also had become a leading lady in other societies in Ireland.
The producer of the show this year was Pat McKay from Newry. He had to leave before the show came to stage to begin preparing for Butlin's Holiday Camp!
