The Grand Duchess would be Ennis Franciscan Musical Society's seventeenth production. It took to the stage of the Holy Family Auditorium April/May for a run of eight shows. This year saw a price increase to 75p and 50p, which did not deter the crowds attending-over 2500 flocked to see the performances.
For the third year in a row, Douglas Neill was our producer, with the wonderful Ita O' Shea once again as chorus mistress and Fr K O'Gorman our musical director. Once again we see familiar faces in our leading roles and the local papers were full of praise for their performances.
As per usual, Ennis Franciscan MS took the show to the Waterford Light Opera Festival. Here they were within 3 points of an over all win and they took home the Denny Shield.
